Linux Desktop Support - London - £45,000
A growing dynamic FinTech company have an opportunity to be part of the team that owns the entire infrastructure. They are looking for a talented desktop engineer to join, where you will be responsible for provisioning desktops and laptops running Windows 10, Debian Linux 10 and MacOS, installing, configuring, and operational maintenance of all desktop/laptops, VOIP, office 365, user accounts, Samba active directory and basic network and software related applications on desktops.
This also includes key DevOps tools which require automation on desktops and laptops, where you will be tasked with the automating the installs for Pirum employees. In addition, you will document procedures, knowledge base information articles and at time lead key office projects such as new VOIP services with unified communication, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and office moves.
Responsibilities:
* Build and install PCs, telephone systems, wireless networks and peripheral devices (such as printers, scanners, mobile/smart phones) related to desktops and laptops.
* Linux systems administration skills to manage user management.
* Be physically able to accept deliveries and carry heavy equipment (computer screens etc.)
* Cable management, and IT common space clean up.
* Datacentre operations experience is a plus
* Automate the desktop and laptop builds using tools such as Chocolatey.
* Handle first and second line queries from the Pirum desktop and laptop user base
* Setup and support Remote Desktop and VPN connectivity
* Maintain installed PCs, networks, telephone systems and peripherals
* Maintain Samba Active Directory whilst working with the Infrastructure team to enhance its capabilities.
* Govern Active Directory polices with the latest security practices following ITIL standards.
* Identify, log and resolve technical problems with software applications.
* Identify potential changes and system improvements to present to technology leadership team for consideration and implementation.
* Ensure that work is carried out within agreed service levels and in accordance with department guidelines.
* Good understanding of operating systems including Windows 10, MacOS and Linux with exposure to PowerShell and Linux bash scripts.
* Create knowledge and support articles that help users resolve desktop related issues.
* Ability to setup, operate and troubleshoot audio and video connections to PC and/or conference room equipment and operate webinar applications (e.g., WebEx, Live Meeting, GoToMeeting).
* Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions using recommended end point security tools
* Support and maintenance of secure endpoint detection
* Support and maintenance of meeting room audio visual equipment
