Job description: Linux Systems Engineer - London - up to £50,000
This award winning organization are rapidly expanding and have 2 openings for a Linux system engineer to work in their fantastic offices in West London where they operate a number of Linux based systems and has co-located hosting facilities in Melbourne. Its web server infrastructure is based on a clustered environment of Linux servers. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of a number of systems including the public-facing high-traffic websites, administered from the head office.
Your role will be to configure and install operating systems and applications on these servers and to maintain these systems to achieve a high level of availability and performance, working alongside the software development team in London.
Essential:
* Demonstrated mastery in administering multiple Linux servers * Strong knowledge of web related technologies: apache, HTTP, HTML, application servers including Tomcat, MySQL, HAProxy, MongoDB, Memcached * A solid background in automated provisioning * Experience with AWS * Solid command of system automation frameworks and concepts * Prior experience building out and scaling at least one significant production app's infrastructure * Strong knowledge of Networks, security, firewalls, load balancers, DNS and other infrastructure components * Excellent data analytics skills * VMWare or other virtualisation experience
Desirable:
* RedHat Certified Systems Engineer (RHCE) qualifications * Have supported a software development team successfully * Experience with Monitoring tools and capacity planning tools such as Nagios and Cacti * Previous experience in operating an Linux environment running commercial web applications * Experience with High Availability clustering * Experience with hardware HTTP load balancers * Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Active Directory
